A New Face for America: Yes, We Did!

This is not a Red State America, or a Blue State America, but the UNITED States of America!

It is difficult to put into words how we feel today. The election of President-elect Barack Hussein Obama sends a beautiful and positive message to America–all of America, and to the world that this is a new day. Me, I keep shaking. At our church, we had a victory party in the community room in another part of the building where we can be political (separate from the “church” which is of course non-partisan)…the party was billed as a thank-you party for all of the volunteers who worked on the election.

We had three large=screen TVs on the stage, and the sound was switched between them depending on who was speaking at the time. As each State was called, especially Pennsylvania and Ohio, the cheers went up. And then, just after 11 p.m. Eastern time, we screamed with joy. Not just for ourselves, but for America and the world; for the healing that we prayed could now start.

Everyone was given a flute filled with sparkling cider, and the first thing the Pastor did was to have us toast “The Ancestors”…we gave them this election. Then we prayed for our 44th President and his family, for our country, and for this world. It was very moving.

The best thing about this is that “Hope” won…of course there will be many problems and lots and lots of very hard work to be done. But we now have a leader who is calm, cool, collected, extremely intelligent, and most of all, believes in unity for America, not division. As icing on the cake, President Barack Hussein Obama sure is “handsome”…which is exactly what the Arabic name “Hussein” means, nothing more, nothing less.

And by the way, Senator John McCain did give a very moving and sincere concession speech; I can only hope that his supporters will forget all of the lies and smears of his campaign and really listen to what he said last night, and work with our new President for all of the United States.
